How to Make a Pornstar Martini

Passion fruit, vanilla and a separate pour of sparkling wine make this cocktail as much a small occasion as a drink.

A passion fruit half floats on a golden cocktail, its dark seeds catching the light. Beside it sits a small glass of sparkling wine—not a top-up, but a companion. The Pornstar Martini arrives with a little theatre, yet you don’t need a professional bar to make it: a shaker, plenty of ice and a few carefully measured ingredients will get you there.

The balance behind the glamour

The drink brings together three distinct flavours: fragrant passion fruit, soft vanilla and sharp lime. Vanilla vodka supplies the alcoholic base, while passion fruit liqueur—such as Passoã—adds more fruit flavour and sweetness. Vanilla syrup rounds out the drink; fresh lime juice provides the acidity that keeps it from tasting simply sugary.

Fresh passion fruit pulp gives you both juice and texture. You’ll shake it into the cocktail, then strain away the seeds before serving.

Gather your ingredients

For one Pornstar Martini, you’ll need:

  • 60 ml (2 oz) vanilla vodka
  • 15 ml (½ oz) passion fruit liqueur, such as Passoã
  • 15 ml (½ oz) vanilla syrup
  • 15 ml (½ oz) fresh lime juice
  • Pulp from 1½ passion fruits, with another half reserved for garnish
  • Plenty of ice
  • A small glass of chilled Prosecco or another dry sparkling wine

You’ll also need a cocktail shaker, a fine-mesh strainer and a chilled coupe—a shallow, stemmed cocktail glass—or a martini glass. Chill the serving glass while you prepare the ingredients so the finished drink stays cold.

Shake, strain, float

Scoop the passion fruit pulp into your shaker. Add the vodka, liqueur, vanilla syrup and lime juice, then add ice.

Shake vigorously until the shaker feels thoroughly cold. Shaking does more than mix the ingredients: it chills the drink and melts a little ice into it, softening the strength and bringing the flavours together.

Pour through the shaker’s strainer and a fine-mesh strainer into your chilled glass. This fine-straining step catches the passion fruit seeds and small ice fragments, giving you a smoother cocktail. Gently float the reserved passion fruit half on top, cut side facing upwards.

The sparkling wine belongs beside the cocktail, not inside the shaker.

Give the bubbles their own glass

Serve the chilled Prosecco separately. You can sip it alongside the cocktail, moving between the fruity, vanilla-rich drink and the crisp sparkling wine.

That contrast is part of the pleasure: one glass offers tropical richness, the other a bright change of pace. Set them side by side, and a straightforward recipe becomes a small celebration.
